Element MDS makes retail debut at local pharmacies

Beckley, WV, September, 2011— Element MDS, an innovative and cost effective way of disposing of unused or expired medications, is now available for consumer purchase at two local pharmacies. The Element MDS kit has been very popular since its release earlier this year with hospice facilities, water shed organizations, and other healthcare groups. It is now grabbing the attention of some businesses that see a potential market in selling the Element MDS kits to residential consumers. By Pass Pharmacy in Beckley, WV and Rainelle Pharmacy in Rainelle, WV were the first to offer the kits to the community.

“The Element MDS kits have been a big success with health care and environmental associations. We knew it was a matter of time before that interest evolved to consumers,” says Daniel Keaton, Director of Business Development and Client Services for Vaught, Inc., the parent company of V23, LLC that developed the Element MDS product. “People are becoming more aware of the consequences of flushing medications. They want to make environmentally sound choices when they need to dispose of unused or expired medications. The Element MDS kit is the perfect option for personal, home medication disposal. I think By Pass Pharmacy and Rainelle Pharmacy recognize this potential and wanted to be the first retail providers in our area.”

By Pass Pharmacy is a new pharmacy at 104 S. Eisenhower Drive and maintains a focus on customer service. The pharmacy is owned by brothers and pharmacists Sid and Ula Llangovan. They also own Rainelle Pharmacy in Rainelle, WV. Both pharmacies carry the Element MDS product.

“Element MDS is a very novel and unique product that is needed in southern West Virginia,” says Syd Llangovan. “My customers were asking for solutions. This product is a great addition to our pharmacies’ offerings. ”
